Anna‘s bridesmaids wore strapless, tangerine satin, floor-length dresses. They accessorized with a 24-inch strand of pearls, which was one of their bridesmaid gifts, each worn differently to create a stylized look.
The ceremony began in Trinity Church’s Vail Chapel at two thirty in the afternoon. Natural light streamed in from the large windows surrounding the altar. Anna’s father walked her down the aisle, and her stepfather performed the ceremony, which incorporated personalized details. The vows had been written by the bride‘s step-uncle, who is also a minister and had used nearly the same ceremony for his son‘s wedding. Anna and Scott also took their first communion as husband and wife and included a ceremonial tying of a three-stranded cord, symbolizing their union with the Holy Spirit.

The cocktail hour was held in the Library and at the King’s Club of the Sonnenalp Resort of Vail. Everyone enjoyed Anna and Scott’s signature cocktail -- an orange-slice martini, in keeping with the color scheme.
The reception took place on the terrace of the resort‘s restaurant, Ludwig‘s, which was enclosed in glass for panoramic outdoor views. Tables set with ivory linens and pewter chargers encircled the dance floor. Chinese paper lanterns hanging overhead completed the room’s cheerful ambience.
Centerpieces of giant clusters of orange tulips further brightened the room. "My favorite flowers have always been tulips," Anna explains, adding that not long into her relationship with Scott, he had taken her to a botanical garden filled with tulips to cheer her up after a particularly bad day. "I knew we had to have tulips as one of our flowers at our wedding," the bride says.
An image of a bird flying next to a vine that Anna came across while designing the save-the-dates solidified the wedding style. The bride went on to use the image, letterpress-printed in light green ink, on all of the wedding stationery, giving guests a taste of the celebration to come.
The three-tier square confection was topped with buttercream frosting and sugar-coated kumquats.
Anna and Scott kicked off the party with a first dance to Etta James‘ "At Last." (After nearly seven years, Anna says, "I figured that would be appropriate"). The dancing and celebration continued throughout the night, with a few Italian favorites in the mix to pay tribute to Scott‘s mother‘s heritage.
Without a doubt, it was love at first sight for Anna Taylor and Scott Synovic. On Anna's first day of work at a new job, she spotted Scott, and, as she remembers: "Our eyes met, and at the same time there was this unexplainable flash of light, some sort of glint or sparkle." Anna and Scott went on to date for more than six years. "I certainly was ready to get married," Anna says, but when Scott proposed at one of her favorite restaurants, the emotion was overwhelming. Scott sat down next to Anna and read her the lyrics to a song and then a verse from the Song of Solomon. "Honestly, the rest was a blur," Anna says. "I’m sure I didn’t hesitate and instantly said yes."

Anna and Scott plunged into planning a spring wedding in Vail…or, at least, Anna did. "I bounced ideas off Scott, but he left most of the decisions up to me," the bride remembers. "My ideas were very grand, but with working full-time, in addition to freelance work on the side, it was a challenge to make time for everything that I wanted to do." Anna used her design expertise to envision the look of the day, which the couple wanted to be natural but modern, in keeping with their surroundings. They didn’t want the usual color scheme either, so pinks and purples were foresworn in favor of bright green and tangerine.
